Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein

This was harder than the Code Name Verity graphic I made, and not just because I haven’t reread Rose Under Fire as much. The horrors Rose and her friends experience really happened to a mind-boggling number of women and that is just… horrendous. And makes me want to cry.
Lest I’m giving the impression that Rose Under Fire is unbearably bleak, it’s not, really! It is a hopeful story about bravery and powerful friendships in the face of horrible circumstances. (I reviewed it here.)
